 Erda, the spirit of Wisdom appears to Wotan warning him that doom and  
 disaster lie in The Ring. He decides to give to the Giants all they demand. 
 After they get all the Gold, Fafner and Fasolt begin to argue on how it 
 should be divided. In the fight that follows, Fasolt is killed by Fafner.
